Houston (Texas / USA) has one of the most thriving scenes nowadays when it comes to hc/punk (The Secret Prostitutes, No Talk, Bloody Hammer, Crime Wave, Talk Sick Brats, ...). The Energy is a fairly new band from that same scene and they've released their second LP last year (once again on Team Science Records). A bit quicker, shorter and more to the point compared to their debut LP but no drastic changes in hindsight. The Energy is definitely a band on his own musical (rock)trip and that might be the reason why they get so often overlooked.

The best single of 2011 so far. This is pretty much punk-rock-perfection!
Click the link below and you’ll hear the first single of OBN III’s. A new band from Austin (Texas) who took 2011 by storm. Two more singles and one LP already followed this debut single on Super Secret Records. Definitely one of the best new (punk)rockacts today and what makes it even better is that there is talk of an European tour in 2012. Let’s hope so!

OBN III’s – No way to rock’n’roll 7”

Meet the new face of rock'n'roll.

The boys of Burn Books put out a tape this year entitled "New York rules" which contains songs of some of the best bands coming out of The Big Apple nowadays. Night Birds, The Men, Hank Wood & The Hammerheads, Nomos, Nude Beach, Byrds Of Paradise, Dawn Of Humans and Pregnant are all featured on this cassette with 2 songs each (some unreleased ones are included too).
500 copies of the tape were sold so people who missed out on one of them can now download the whole tape via the link below.
I’ve read there was talk of releasing the tape on vinyl too but I don’t know if this will ever happen. So here’s your chance hearing all this good stuff. And donate some cash if you can miss it. The money will serve some good musical purpose whatsoever!

When discussing hc/punk in 2011, Slices is a band that often gets overlooked. This band based out of Pittsburgh already released 2 rad singles and a terrific LP on the aforementioned Iron Lung Records (see previous post). A new single was recently issued by Kemado Records and a new LP is upcoming. Slices definitely deserves some more attention so click the link and read this fine interview with their vocalist Greg Mantooth. As always, another solid job done by Yellow Green Red.
